Grace under pressure

Posted by Michael Klassen on November 22, 2006 in Vancouver

Sun columnist Pete McMartin writes about Councillor Suzanne Anton standing up to an angry group of neighbours in Dunbar, and how she addresses them with frankness and moxie. We had the exact same panic on Fraser street about the Triage facility, and it was a no-win for any person or political figure to defend it.

Earlier in the week, another mob bent on anarchy busts up a public consultation chaired by Councillor Peter Ladner. Ladner was grabbed and screamed at by this rabble, yet he kept his cool.

Politics in Vancouver ain't pretty, but these two bring to it some much needed civility.
