Doubt me? Ask Google
Posted by Michael Klassen on June 7, 2006 in Media
Not a fantastic revelation, just an observation. Have you noticed how many news reporters season their stories with, "You may not have heard about X, but type X in Google and you get a million hits."
This interesting trend confirms the following:
- Google has become the de facto resource for search. You don't hear reporters say "I MSN'd this," or "I Yahooed my results"
- Google is a source for The Truth. The search company produces very little of its own content, but there is an assumption that if it can be searched on Google, it is somehow more accurate
- I must have too much time on my hands to be writing about stuff like this
In some ways Google is taking on the characteristics of a deity. All knowing, revered, and feared (if you get bumped off the front page of results).
All hail Google.

Google IS a deity. I still remember my Metacrawler times and thank to Google for being.
